Zippo 6-Hour Rechargeable Hand Warmer
By Travis Moncrief
It can be said that in order to have success in the field being comfortable in both hot or cold climates can be a key ingredient to hunting harder or staying out longer. When it comes to the cold, often it’s our hands that seem to be the first to go. While gloves act as a layer of protection we have all had cold hands while wearing gloves.
Zippo has brought to the market a rechargeable hand warmer that has proven dependable whether in the woods or the duck blind. Providing dual-sided heat, its ergonomic design fits perfectly in your hand while providing a temperature of a claimed 120 degrees on the highest setting. It has five different temperature settings. While testing it, I found temperatures ranging from 96 degrees at the lowest setting to 117 degrees on the highest setting. When compared to the disposable hand warmers, Zippo’s rechargeable unit is much warmer and consistent, plus you don’t have the mess of the fuel burning type warmers.
Complete with battery and heat indicator lights, the six-hour model weighs 5.3 ounces. It also has a convenient power bank feature that can recharge any USB compatible device. With many of us using our phones as navigation aids this can come in really handy when you’re in need of a charge.
The cost is minimal. So much that having one in each pocket to provide instant relief when all the feeling has left your fingertips. Compact, light and reliable it’s a must for your hunting pack this year.
